Hello everyone!
I want to thank everyone who attended the March meeting at Sambuca Uptown. I thoroughly enjoyed being the keynote speaker and I am looking forward to attending another meeting in the near future. It was fantastic and an honor to interact with so many engaging event planners! I left the event with a new realization of the talent and professionalism that is available in the DFW Event Planning Meetup Group.
Those of you who RSVP'd, but were unable to attend, you were all greatly missed and I hope you can attend this month's meeting with American Ice Company on April 28th. In the meantime, I would like you all to know about a program I offered to the attendees. This program is available to all of the members of the DFW Event Planning Meetup Group.

The power of a fragrant bouquet, the exuberance from the spray of the ocean, and the enchantment from a French lavender field all trigger the sense of smell that helps return our minds to a special time and place. For weddings, we tickle our memories by using photos to delight our sense of sight, CDs for the sense of sound, keepsakes for the sense of touch and we even save a piece of the wedding cake to unlock the sense of taste. But the one powerful sense that remains un-stimulated is this sense of smell.
Come join us as we present you with an opportunity to expand your repertoire beyond the customary faux pearl earrings, key chains, and money clips. Let us share with you a way of making your client’s weddings that much more memorable by stimulating the untouched and forgotten sense, the sense of smell. Imagine being able to offer a personalized perfume specifically for your brides and/or fragrances for your grooms and sharing them with their entire wedding parties and guest lists. Now imagine that these unique gifts are not only given in an elegant and luxurious presentation but that they are also affordable so they can be shared with many.

Internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter,
Shaun Barrowes returns to Dallas to perform at the Bath House Cultural
Center on April 11th.

Center (521 E. Lawther Drive, Dallas, TX 75218)
When:Saturday, April 11th,

Shaun Barrowes’ tunes range from energetic,
swinging numbers and anthemic orchestral pop tunes, to poignant ballads
and such romantic offerings as hit single, “When I Take Your Hand”.
And while music critics have begun to draw comparisons between Barrowes
and Jamie Cullum, another hard-hitting pianist and vocalist who stylistically
rides the pendulum that sways between rock, pop, and jazz, Barrowes’
style is just as close to Colplay and John Mayer as it is to Cullum
or Michael Buble.
The event is called the Games of Duncanville and is set up like a Survivor game with teamwork and friendly competition. The funds raised goes to help the local community and organizations such as: Adopt-A-School Program, The Texas Scholars Program, Taste of Duncanville and Candidates Forum. What is it that
Groom?s want? He has finally proposed and his bride to be is so excited. In a
Bride?s world, she starts planning the wedding as soon as possible. This is
kind of a set back for the Groom. He waits to here what details and creative
ideas are being used. He may here, ?What do you think of this?? a lot. Even
though this is every girl?s dream we need to focus on what it is that the Groom
Really Wants!
The
Engagement Party or planning a family get together is a good time to celebrate
the happy occasion coming up, but also to start listening to what people are
saying. Some details that might be mentioned are the budget, guest list,
location scouting, and possibly hiring a wedding planner. You will hear ideas
from all your family and friends ? take them in and consider them. You and your
partner are a team and communication is the key. But do not ever loose sight of
what really matters; what your visions are for the wedding.
We know that the
Groom takes an interest in the choosing of the tuxedo?s and the Honeymoon
Planning. But there are many Grooms that
do not like the planning process because they view it as a stressful activity.
And some Groom?s will hold back on their opinions to avoid a disagreement
taking place. So how can we get the Groom to have a fun time planning with you
and not make it a stressful event?
They say food is the way to a man?s heart. Include the Groom in a special food
tasting at the venue or bakery. This allows the Groom to open up and voice his
opinion on the food selection. Make it fun at the Bakery by showing him
different options of cake designs and let him try the different flavors
offered. Now that he has come to a venue with you to make some selections you
might want to surprise him afterwards by taking him to his favorite hot spot.
This is a way of telling him thank you for is advice and also relieve any
stress he might have.
The
key to a successful marriage is communication. Make sure you both are on the
same page in the planning process. One of the many things I have noticed is that
the grooms have a hard time getting accustomed to the wedding registry. This is
something you should really do together. When planning what you need for your
household, make sure you discuss colors, quantities, and price ranges. There
are some registries where you get your own wedding specialist and they can give
you product knowledge and show you the latest trends. You need to look at
things like are you Traditional or are you more Artsy. Product has personality so
this will reflect you. The scanners are a great tool with the men to become
involved. Also, you might want to let him choose a place to register as well.
Even if it is all tools!
No
matter what part of the planning, there are always ways to get our grooms more
involved. We should always have open
ears to hear what their opinions are. Remember some grooms like to stay out of
the planning, but if they do make an effort to come and help out take them
somewhere special. And you never know, you just might learn something new about
each other. You are a team and your goal is creating a wonderful wedding and
life together!

Saying ?I Do? for a destination wedding is becoming more popular
with many couples! Planning a destination wedding or ?weddingmoon? can
be rewarding and challenging at the same time. But believe it or not
it is cheaper to have a destination wedding! So the question is, ?Do
you know where you want to celebrate the most important day in your
life?? Do not fear, there are many companies that specialize in wedding
and honeymoon destination planning. But you need to dig deep and do
plenty of research before deciding where to go. Planning a wedding can
be overwhelming, but planning it in another area can be twice the
stress. There are many websites out there that will have information to
help you with your research. Just make sure you do not base a decision
on what the location looks like. Look at ?every single thing that the
area has to offer?. It may be that the location has no nightlife and
you?re just in the middle of nowhere! Find a local travel agent that
will be able to give you a better ?insight? about your preferred
location. Most travel agencies will help you plan everything from hotel
and transportation, to activities around the area. You need to ask
yourself if you want to be secluded or be able to do an assortment of
activities. Also, do you want to have an extended trip or something
short? So here are four things you need to keep in mind when looking
at different destinations: Time, When, Where and Local Laws and
Regulations. Lets focus on the rules and what makes a civil ceremony
unique.
There are Rules? Yes, there are certain rules when getting married
in a foreign country. Rules and Regulations are very important when
looking at planning a destination wedding. Here are some things you
need to research before choosing a location.
If the location will recognize your wedding being legal or is it a Civil Ceremony?
Do you need to be a resident to get married there?
Is there a waiting period? If so, how long?
Do you need proof if you are divorced or widowed?
Are blood tests required?
Do you need documentation or paperwork from your church if you are having a religious ceremony?
How can you make your Civil Ceremony unique? We have talked about
bringing your personality into the location choice so lets do the same
for the ceremony! There are different ways of adding to the ceremony to
make your guests remember it forever! One of the many things you can do
is to write your own vows. I have seen couples use vows from movie
clips, plays, music lyrics and poems. Make sure whatever you choose
reflects how you feel about your loved one. Themed settings such as
Western and Hawaiian are being used to give that personal touch to
weddings. Assigning other members of the wedding party or family to do
the readings can make it very special. There are many different
officials that will perform these ceremonies. Think outside the box and
make this a one of a kind wedding your guest will be talking about for
years to come.
Whether you are planning a ?weddingmoon? or creating a unique
ceremony, there are many creative ideas you can use! Take the time to
do in depth research. Don?t just jump in and make hasty decisions. And
always remember to focus on what is important ? the two of you sharing
this special day together!
